Little Red Wolf: Home
Formed in late autumn of '08, Little Red Wolf brings together the collective hard working, hard rocking talents of four Madison-area musicians. Through sheer force of will and their lyrical, multi-instrumental ways, the band is poised to take the scene by charming storm.
Combining elements of rock, bluegrass, alt-country, and the harmony-heavy vocals of swing-era ensembles, Little Red Wolf offers something entirely new and unique without forgetting their roots.
After just over two years of playing together, and nearly a year of working in the studio, Madison-based folk-pop outfit Little Red Wolf is beyond pleased as punch to independently release their debut, full-length album, If Only We Were Just Like We Are on Dec. 11, 2010.
Featuring 12 tracks of the versatile, multi-layered music for which they’ve become well-known, the album represents the band’s passion for blending genres and pushing boundaries - while having a lot of fun along the way. Making good use of their ability to find lush, multi-part harmonies, and to incorporate a large variety of instruments, Little Red Wolf has created a record that explores the world while remaining true to its roots.
If Only We Were Just Like We Are runs the gamut from harder-edged storytelling (“Bella In the Elm”) to almost ethereal, folk-infused meanderings (“Balloon Song”) and dusty alt-country (“Welcome to Rest”).
Their music has been described by local press as "versatile folk-pop" that's “distinctive and melodic,” with ”swooning vocal harmonies." Having released their first album, the band is ready to bring that sound to the rest of the world.

July 31, 2011
omg omg omg you guys - it's LRW's first-ever MIDWEST DOMINATION TOUR and it starts tomorrow. We're beyond psyched to hit the road for the first of five gigs in one week, at Elbo Room in Chicago, and to see all of our friends and fans in other cities.
We've got the minivan all loaded up with gear and snacks (and air fresheners), couches lined up on which to crash, and have even polished up a couple of brand new songs to debut along the way.
In the meantime, you should also check out the Live From Studio M session we recently recorded which is now online right here. We're pretty dang happy with how it turned out, and many thanks to the Triple M crew for both having us in and supporting local music in general.
That said, you should probably go check our calendar page for all of the tour dates and please do come on out to say hi!
OMG we're playing with Tiffany (also tour news)!

June 12, 2011
Guys, guys - OMG - I don't want to freak you out too hard but we're playing a show with Tiffany! Clearly our keytar-borne pleas to the universe have been answered.
This Saturday (June 18) we'll be playing the second annual Fruit Fest right here in sunny Madison, Wisconsin, along with yes that Tiffany, as well as the awesome Bitch, Erin McKeown, and Athens Boys Choir. It's a supremely rad line-up, and we couldn't be more psyched to be part of it.
We're on at 4:30 p.m., but the hootenanny kicks off at noon - and it's all FREE. We'll be out in the parking lot of Plan B on Williamson St. (map here).
No word on if Emily will get to join Bitch for another rousing rendition of "Pussy Manifesto" this time or not, but regardless, it'll be a great day and we'd love to have you join us!
TOUR!
Slowly but surely our first ever tour is taking shape! We're taking a whopping week to travel the great expanses of neighboring Midwestern states, hopefully meeting some good new folks along and changing a few hearts and minds along the way.
The first three dates we have confirmed (with more to come soon!) are as follows:
- Wednesday, July 27 TOUR KICK-OFF SHOW at the High Noon Saloon in Madison, WI
- Monday, August 1 at Elbo Room in Chicago, IL
- Friday, August 5 at the Gas Lamp in Des Moines, IA
Check our calendar page for all the details, plus other upcoming shows around town.

Happy spring!
Over the weekend we got some excellent news: Little Red Wolf is nominated for three Madison Area Music Association awards! The annual event is a celebration of the width and breadth of musical talent in Wisconsin, and all proceeds from it go to put musical instruments into the hands of area kids.
If you already voted for us in the first round - thanks! - and you can log back into the account you set up before to vote for us (and the many other fine acts) in the final round, open until May 15.
We'd appreciate it heaps! Our nominations are:
- Album of the Year (Alternative) - "If Only We Were Just Like We Are"
- Song of the Year (Blues) - "Sunshine"
- Song of the Year (Alternative) - "Bella In the Elm"
If you haven't registered yet, now's the time! Again, the tiny $5 fee goes toward a great program.
Also! We've got some gigs and radio appearances coming up: Check the full gig listings here.
Remember, our EP, If Only We Were Remixed, is available for a choose-your-own-price at our Bandcamp site, and our full-length, If Only We Were Just Like We Are, is available via CD Baby and at our upcoming performances!
